Created by Italian craftsmen for the King of France, his royal highness, King Francois I,  Herringbone is known to be one of the original parquetry patterns developed in Europe. In 1539, King Francois I, used this design on floors within the Chateau de Fontainebleau.

Herringbone parquetry is a classic European pattern that is made from blocks and assembled on a right angle that creates the typical V shape.
